Our Rehabilitation for Sport and Exercise course is designed for those who are looking to use rehabilitation modalities and exercise professionally within Sports Massage, Sports Therapy and injury treatment.
Open to Sports Massage and Sports Therapists at Level 4 and above, and wider therapy based professionals at Level 4 and above, including Military PTI’s.

About the course
Course Design
This course is designed in relation to industry standards and the current National Occupational Standards and provides 26 Continual Professional Development (CPD) hours.
Our short course in Rehabilitation is linked to competencies and outcomes within the scope of Sports Massage and Therapy provision and is accredited by the Federation of Holistic Therapists and the Sports Therapy Organisation.
Delivered over three consecutive days from 9:30am – 5.30pm.
Training days will provide a mixture of practical application, theory work, group work. Consideration will be drawn to successful recovery within the rehabilitation process.
The course will expand on injury treatment knowledge, and will develop the use of rehabilitation exercise principles and modalities within the context of sports therapy.
On completion of the course you will be able to demonstrate effective use and application of rehabilitation exercise modalities in the management of injuries in a safe and effective manner and will have a clear understanding of contraindications for treatment.
Overview of Course
- Introduction to Rehabilitation within Sports Massage and Sports Therapy.
- Contraindications and Health and Safety considerations,
- Management and design of rehabilitation programmes,
- Maintenance and development of Cardiovascular Fitness and programming to include macro and meso-cycles,
- Maintenance and development of flexibility for daily living and sport,
- Maintenance and development of muscular endurance and strength,
- Maintenance and development of motor skills.
- Introduction to hydrotherapy.
- Focus will be drawn to early, mid and late stage rehabilitation.
Entry Requirements & background
Course applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old and must hold a minimum of a Level 4 qualification in Sports Massage or Sports Therapy. This course is also open to Military Physical Training Instructors as continued professional development.
Applicants should have also been practising Sports Massage Therapy for a period of time prior to enrolling on this course.
The course will expand on injury treatment knowledge, and will develop the use of rehabilitation exercise principles and modalities within the context of sports therapy.
