Our 2 day Dry Needling foundation module can also be studied as an individual accredited CPD Certificate course.
The Dry Needling foundation course is designed for those who are looking to use this modality professionally within therapy, injury treatment and rehabilitation.
Our course is open to Sports Massage Therapists at Level 4 or above, Sports Therapists, Osteopaths, Chiropractors and Physiotherapists as continued professional development.

About the course
Course Design
Our course is designed in relation to industry standards and is independently accredited by the Federation of Holistic Therapists.
Provides 16 Continual Professional Development hours (CPD).
Training day will provide a mixture of theory work practical demonstration and supervised of treatment.
You will be practising and receiving Dry Needling throughout this course, under guided supervision.
Overview of Course
- History of Dry Needling and current research
- Theory and benefits of Dry Needling in relation to injury
- Application of use within Sports Massage Therapy and other therapy contexts.
- Contraindications and Health and Safety considerations
- Demonstration and practise of Dry Needling with links to common sports injuries
- Treatment areas with links to injury will include:
- Upper limb, including two stimulation points on the hand
- Lower limb, including two stimulation points on the foot
- Chest
- Shoulders
- Upper, mid and lower back region
- Gluteal region
Entry Requirements & background
Applicants should have also been practising Sports or Massage Therapy for a period of time prior to enrolling on this course.
Our course is also open to Sports Therapists, Osteopaths, Chiropractors and Physiotherapists as continued professional development.
This course will focus on the application and theory behind the use of Dry Needling. The use of Dry Needling as a modality within Sports and Remedial Massage, Sports Therapy, Physiotherapy treatment will be discussed along with the aims of treating specific injuries.
On completion of the course students will be able to demonstrate effective use and application of Dry Needling in the management of injury treatment, in a safe and effective manner and will have a clear understanding of contraindications for treatment.
This course is taught using a hands-on approach, therefore you will be practising Dry Needling throughout both teaching days, whilst receiving ongoing input from the tutor. This course is independently accredited by the Federation of Holistic Therapists.
Course Tutor
Taught by Dawn Morse BSc (Hons), PGCE, MSc
Dawn has a Masters Degree in Sports and Health Sciences, a BSc in Sports Science, is a qualified teacher and a Sports Massage Therapist. Dawn has been lecturing in the field of Sports Science and Sports Therapy for over 10 years and was the programme leader for the University of Bath FdSc in Sports Therapy for 9 years.
Dawn is now an Associate Lecturer for the Open University and the founder of Core Elements which provides regular training courses in Sports Massage and Sports Therapy modalities.
