Hot Stones for Sport and Massage Therapy
Our accredited day CPD course in Hot Stones for Sport and Massage Therapy is designed for therapists who would like to use Stone Modalities within Sports Massage, Sports Therapy and Soft Tissue work.
This course will introduce Stone Modalities with the aim of providing heavier pressure, wider massage techniques, trigger-pointing and contrast therapy.
All of which, are ideal for use within sports injury treatment.
This CPD course will develop practical and theoretical skills necessary to use Hot, Cold and Combination Stone Therapy, competently within a sports and clinical environment.

GEORGINA KING BSC (HONS), SST ( Swindon based courses)
Georgina graduated from the University of Worcester with a First Class Honours degree in Sports Therapy. During her time at University Georgina worked with Worcester Warriors Rugby and Academy, Worcester Wolves Basketball and National Taekwondo, providing pitch side medical cover and clinical work.
Georgina currently works as a lead Sports Therapist for the Courtyard clinic in Malmesbury and as First Team Sports Therapist at Corsham Rugby Club, Dorset and Wiltshire and Devizes Ladies.
Following her passion for Medicine and First Aid Georgina completed her First Aid Instructor and Assessor qualification, and First Response in Emergency Care, along with an Award in Education and Training. Georgina has a keen interest in teaching and helping others to develop within the Sports and Medical Industry.
Georgina assists and teaches on many Core Elements Training courses, such as Hot Stones for Sport and Massage Therapy, Kinesiology Taping, Taping and Strapping for Sport and Massage, Electrotherapy and Rehabiliation for Sport and Exercise.
Ellie Rickeard BSc (Hons), FHT (Liverpool & Newcastle based courses)
Ellie studied Sports Therapy at the Univerity of Bath. Since graduating whe has worked with several sports teams and prinarily works at a Physiotherapy Clinic in Tavistock, Devon as the head Sports Therapist.
Ellie is a passionate Sports Therapist and is also a qualified Pilates teacher.
Since graduating, Ellie has completed a wide variety of CPD training, to include Pilates, baby massage, Dry Needling, Dry Cupping, Hot Stones and a teaching qualification.
Due to COVID-19 this course is available as Face to Face delivery or, via Live Online delviery using the Zoom app.
The same content will be delivered via zoom as in our Face to Face courses, and you will still be provided with a copy of the course power-point and an opportunity to ask questions, whilst receiving instruction from the course tutor.
Our Live Online course is accredited by the FHT and is insurable by the FHT and Balens.
Live Online course:
To ensure teaching and learning on the Online Live course, we have added in an extra assessment to check learning of practical skills.
Therefore on completion of the course delivery, you will be asked to send in a copy of a short video demonstrating the application of hot stone therapy to the back and to the lower limb. Once the video has been reviewed you will be provided with a copy of the CPD certificate.
For online Live delvier you will need:
- A partner to practise on,
- A Hot Stone kit (you will be advised on trypes of kits upon course booking),
- Massage medium and towels, along with a therapy couch or area to work from.
Both our Face to Face and Online Live courses are highly practical and focused on the application of stone modalities.
After a brief introduction to the group, the day will be focused on:
- Physiology effects of hot and cold stone modalities and contrast therapy.
- Health and safety considerations and contraindications.
- Hot stone placement for reduction of mucle tension and increased localised blood flow.
- Application of stones for heavier pressures, effleurage, petrissage tapotement, and fascial release techniques.
- Benefits of using hot stones for trigger point therapy and application for trigger-points and scapula release.
- Introduction to cold stone application and contrast therapy with the stones.
- Application to injury and treatment within a Sports Massage and Sports Therapy perspective.
- The day will conclude with time for Q & A.
